A Colorful View of New Orlean’s French Quarter

Recently John & I took a trip to New Orleans for the first time. We were completely enamored with the culture, food and architecture there. Its vibrance was something that we’d never seen before and it was truly inspirational.

Whether I’m decorating a room in my house or spending time painting, one of my favorite things to do is find inspiration from outside sources. This trip was just what I needed to get a refreshing new perspective.

French Quarter Interior Design

After we got back from our trip I spent plenty of time on property sites looking at available properties in the French Quarter. Although I’d probably never make a move that large, it’s fun to check out what’s on the market in new places we visit. One thing that struck me about these properties was the high end, modern and stylish interiors of some of the homes I looked at. From the exterior, the bright colors and simplicity of the home’s front area would lead some to believe that the interiors were much more quaint, but that was not the case.

The French Quarter Color Scheme

The colors of the homes in the French Quarter have been influenced by multiple different cultures and eras. Because it was one of the first major port locations in Northern America, you see and abundance of Spanish, French and Mediterranean influence. Its melting pot of cultural influence is what makes the architecture truly unique. The color schemes, combined with the rod iron and flat roofs were an interior design lovers dream and I found myself taking hundreds of photos.

New Orlean’s French Quarter was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. As a DIY interior designer that loves to add pops of color into my home decor decisions, these color schemes had my wheels turning.
